I made a beautiful white yellow and cream casket spray, for a funeral this morning. I was reminded of my college days. The teacher had told the class it was strange how the shape and size of everyone’e oasis spray resembled their own body shape and size. My first reaction was that this can’t be true but after spending many years working with different size florists I have to admit that there is some truth in this statement. My casket spray was more rounded and fatter than before. I have to own up to putting on more weight in recent months. I like the fatter oasis spray, it has a better shape. I’m not too keen on my fatter shape.

I love flowers, I love my work as a florist, I even love funeral flowers. I spend hours and hours looking through floral magazines and floristry books, from all over the world. I also love to travel and so far, have not been able to pass a florist shop, without having a good look around, even if I don’t speak the language, I find some way of communicating. Two years ago I was in Switzerland visiting a local market. Lucky me, I found several flower stalls selling amazing flower arrangements, all very unusual and unique. What a wonderful surprise, after only spending an hour strolling up the market, I returned to find all the flower arrangement had been sold. Needless to say the Swiss have moved up in my estimations…… THEY BUY FLOWERS……. unlike australians, why is that? Well, have you met the typical aussie dude? Not a romanic bone in his beer body.

For this service they take a commission, sometimes as much as 45% of the purchase price. This leaves the florist with less to work with and the relay services with more money to gain a higher ranking on internet search engines. By dealing direct with an independent florist, who will arrange and deliver your flowers personally, they will be able to double the flower content and you will receive a much better deal.
